Comprehensive environmental assessment of industrial clusters
This first-of-its-kind environmental assessment report by CPCB has identified 88 pollution hotspots in India. Of this, 10 have been rated as 'alarmingly' polluted and 33 clusters as critically polluted. 32 others are seriously polluted & remaining are in the warning zone.
The results of the application of the Comprehensive Environmental Pollution Index (CEPI) to selected industrial clusters or areas are presented in this report. The main
objective of the study is to identify polluted industrial clusters or areas in order to take concerted action and to centrally monitor them at the national level to improve
the current status of their environmental components such as air and water quality data, ecological damage, and visual environmental conditions. A total of 88 industrial areas or
clusters have been selected by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in consultation with the Ministry of Environment & Forests Government of India for the study.
