Every Child’s birth right: inequities and trends in birth registration
Birth registration is a critical first step towards protecting children throughout their lives. Nearly 230 million children under the age of five in the world have not had their births registered. The report presents latest available data and estimates on birth registration in 161 countries. It highlights global and regional trends and examines inequities in prevalence according to social, economic, demographic and other characteristics. It describes programmatic and advocacy efforts undertaken by UNICEF and its partners.
