The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today approved the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS). To boost female health in rural India, the Union Health Ministry has okayed a scheme to provide sanitary napkins at “highly subsidised” rates to Below Poverty Line (BPL) girls in the age group of 10 years to 19 years. The scheme will be rolled out in 150 districts out of the total 600 districts that will be covered under Phase I.
