The crisis in agriculture is real and cannot be denied despite official apathy for more than two decades. Some of the major symptoms of this crisis are suicides numbering more than 100,000 in the last one decade; more than 40% of farmers being ready to give up agriculture at the first opportunity as per NSSO survey; general mismanagement in the areas of pricing, shortages of inputs, wrong policies in sugarcane, pulses and other sector and last but not the least the rate of growth of agriculture stagnating at very low rate despite all claims of investments and better policies.
