Rapidly growing cities, higher traffic load, reliance on outdated industrial processes, growing energy consumption, lack of appropriate industrial zoning and environmental regulations and poor implementation of control measures have all contributed to reduced aur quality. In view of this, ambient air quality monitoring was done at 5 sampling sites of the Bhadravathi town of Karnataka state to know the concentration of SO2. From the results it is evident that the SO2 was found more at industrial area and the results so obtained  are discussed with relevant causes.
