Water is most vital input in agriculture and has made a significant contribution in providing stability to food grain production and self-sufficiency. This resource can be optimally used only when quantity of water is assessed at micro level. The present study was aimed to estimate the gap in demand and supply of water resources at the block level during kharif and rabi season in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and it was found that the average annual water demand exceeded average annual evapotranspiration requirements by 29285 ha-m consisting of 15262 ha-m (52%) in kharif and 14023 ha-mm (48%) in rabi season.
