Removal of chromium (III) from aqueous solution by microbial waste biomass (MB1) obtained as a byproduct of pharmaceutical fermentation industry was studied. In order to understand the sorption kinetic behaviour of chromium (III), a series of batch mode experiments were conducted at different pH values, adsorbent dosage and initial chromium concentration. Cr (III) removal was found optimum at pH 4, which was 97.8% by 1% biomass dosage. Kinetic data were well described by various models.
