Bhutan has an estimated hydropower potential of 30,000 MW and 12 TWh mean annual energy generation. So far 23,760 MW has been identified and assessed to be technically feasible. Only 1.488 MW,  i.e., 5% of the feasible potential is harnessed so far. Royal Govt. of Bhutan (RGoB) in association of Govt.  of India (GoI) have embarked upon an ambitious plan of executing 10,000 MW of hydro power by 2020.
