Water resources development and management is not only imperative but also crucial for sustainable agriculture in water scarce areas of submontane region. Three small water harvesting tanks/ponds were constructed under the World Bank funded project in the region to harvest rainwater excess. This can be used to apply supplemental irrigations to raise the wheat productivity in the critical times of water deficit period especially in the winter season. However, an attempt has been made to study the impact of these water harvesting tanks/ponds on agriculture and socio-economic conditions of the people of the area.
