In agroforestry system, management practices are commonly applied to minimize competitive effects between tree and crop for light, moisture and nutrient. In tree-crop system, branches of tree are removed upto certain height to facilitate more light to understorey crop but on the other hand pruning leads to considerable reduction in leaf area, and this supposedly leads to an overall reduction in the assimilate production of the trees.
