Pollution Research
It is well known that 50-60% of power generated in India is from thermal power stations. These thermal power plants use coal as a fuel. The high ash content of these coals pose a serious problem to the environment. The flyash production rate is about 25 million tonne for every 5 year. In India the thermal plants located at rural areas have neglected the flyash problem in terms of water and land pollution problems associated with power generating plants. Hence, to assess the pollution potential of the flyash of SGTPP (Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Plant) three samples were collected from different units of the plant. These are then analysed for their physico-chemical characteristics.
