The textile industries in Tamil Nadu are in the process of providing zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system and they are in need of suitable technology for colour and organics removal so as to reduce the chemical consumption, energy consumption and sludge generation, which are problems in the conventional treatment methods. In this study, the synergistic effect of photocatalytic oxidation and ozonation on removal of colour and COD of real textile dyeing wastewater, collected from a textile dyeing unit located at Erode, Tamil Nadu was investigated.
