BENGALURU: THE Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will launch a 100 per cent bio-diesel bus on Monday as part of its efforts to reduce fuel expenditure and air pollution. The country’s first 100 per cent bio-diesel bus, which will ply between Bengaluru and Chennai, will be inaugurated by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, stated a press release. He will also launch KSRTC’s new digitalised breathanalyser to check its drivers for drunken driving. Last year, the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas permitted transporters to run buses with 100 per cent bio-diesel, up from 20 per cent. In 2015, KSRTC launched a pilot project with 10 bio-diesel buses as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Officials said KSRTC is expected to save `5 a litre by using bio-diesel.
