11 die in flood-related incidents in UP

Eleven bodies were fished out of the swirling rivers of Uttar Pradesh that are in spate following fresh rains received in last 24 hours, official said on Monday. The police said that 3 bodies were fished out from the river Ganga in Bulandshahr on Monday. The bodies - one male, one female and a child - were taken out from Ramnagar Police station areas. Three days earlier three more bodies were recovered from Bulandshahar.Two bodies were recovered in Bijnore, police said. "These bodies could be of pilgrims who died in flash floods of Uttarakhand," the police official said. Police said that last week three bodies were fished out in Pilibhit taking the total number of bodies recovered in last four days to 11. Directives have been issued to district officials to maintain records of the bodies recovered from river. Their photographs have been taken and DNA have been preserved for future enquiries, police said. Meanwhile, the Central water Commission said that following rains major rivers, including Ganga, Sharda and Ghaghra, continued to rise and were flowing near the danger mark. The Ganga was rising at Ankinghat, Dalmau, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Ghazipur area, the Central Water Commission officials said. The river Yamuna was rising along its course at Naini in Allahabad, whereas Sharda was rising in Kheri and was flowing above danger mark at Paliankalan. Ghaghra was flowing near danger mark in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipaar in Ballia district. Bahedi in Bareilly received 153.5 mm of rains, Birdghat in Gorakhpur received 55 mm of rainfall, while Kakadhari got 28 mm, 97.4 mm was received by Dabari and 76.4 mm by Fathgarh.
