NEW DELHI The Delhi Development Authority's board of inquiry and hearing on Tuesday received objections and suggestions on the draft zonal development plan (ZDP) from the residents of Zone-L (that covers 21,933 hectares between Delhi-Rohtak railway line and was earlier known as West Delhi-III) under the Master Plan for Delhi 2021. In all, there were 1,131 objections and suggestions. It was suggested that all the village land should not be marked as green and villagers be allowed to use some portion of the land for commercial use. They will leave a 100-metre area around the village as green belt. The residents did not want the green area around the villages to be used for public and semi-public facilities. There were suggestions about developing wholesale markets and identification and depiction of regional parks, district parks, playgrounds and historical monuments in the ZDP. Many roads that are supposed to cut through the inhabited areas needed re-alignment. It was also suggested that the ZDP should allow multi-storey group housing with floor area ratio of 400 to 500. The residents wanted that the ZDP should mention the carrying capacity of the zone in terms of sold waste management, sewerage disposal and amenities provided in the unauthorised colonies. Further, Ghevra and Tikri villages, which have been shown as green areas in the draft ZDP, should be identified and depicted as they have a built up area of nearly 80 per cent and commercial activities continue in these villages, they suggested. There was also a demand for incorporating Mundka Udyog Nagar in the ZDP.
