12 urban projects cleared

Twelve pro jects have been cleared under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), including four from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. These projects were passed during the first meeting of the Central sanctioning and monitoring committee of the JNNURM under the Union ministry of urban development. These projects are worth approximately Rs 400 crores and pertain to submission of infrastructure and governance. These projects are related to upgrading the water supply, drainage system and roads over bridges of the respective cities. The mission, which was launched in December last year, aims at creating economically productive and efficient cities by upgrading their infrastructure. In the first phase, 63 cities, state capitals and 23 cities, which are famous for religious and major tourist spots have been taken up under the mission.
