The stalemate over providing land to 138 families living in the Tollygunge end of Gobindapur Rail Colony continues even as these families refused to move from their homes. Most other squatters have, however, vacated their homes. Families who live in the Tollygunge end of the rail colony remain firm on their stance of not vacating the place unless the state provides them land under the rehabilitation scheme for refugees. Some members of the organisation said that police had not demolished their houses as yet. They also said the settlers had not demolished any structure hoping that the administration would spare those houses because they are not "illegal', contrary to what railway authorities say. Police, however, said that the eviction drive is on and a vast stretch in Gobindapur and Lake Gardens is almost clear of the structures
