Over 15,000 autorickshaws are creating multi-dimensional environmental problems by creating noise as well as air pollution in the city of Karachi, Pakistan, it has been learnt. According to the sources, as these three-wheel vehicles have two-stroke engines so the rickshaw operators have to add oil to lubricate the engine parts. The majority of the operators use low-quality cheap oil, which is usually adulterated. This makes the emissions more deadlier. Most of the rickshaw drivers also purchase oil from numerous "oil shops" set up on various footpaths in the city, which sell oil that are "recycled" in the "refineries" in the backyards in Shershah, Golimar, etc.
