198 Pvt hospitals included in Janani Yojana

With a view to increasing the access of safe motherhood and child health services under RCH-2 programme, participation of hospitals of non-government and private sectors is being ensured. The willing private and non-government hospitals are being authorised under the programme after fulfilling the stipulated standards. At the 198 private hospitals included in Janani Sahayogi Yojana, so far 8067 ordinary and 3069 caesarean sections have been conducted. As many as 52 private hospitals were authorised in the year 2006-07. The authorised hospitals are providing safe motherhood and children's healthcare services to women belonging to families living below poverty line. The eligible beneficiaries are getting the benefit of Janani Suraksha Yojana, transportation for delivery and treatment at these hospitals. For providing mother and child services, these are paid as per fixed rates. The rates include Rs 1200 per ordinary safe delivery, Rs 500 for safe abortion of 8 weeks old embryo, Rs 750 for abortion of 8 to 12 weeks old embryo, Rs 5 thousand five hundred for caesarean section and Rs 750 for each blood transfusion. Rs 50 is paid for the medicare of newborn baby for baby warmer, photo therapy and paediatrician per day while Rs 250 per day is paid for the medicare of immature child. The private hospitals willing to join hand with the state government in this important task must have adequate arrangements for general delivery, caesarean section, abortion, care of newly born child, necessary equipment to look after immature baby, experts and medicines. The private hospitals must have storage unit facility as well.
