Nellore, July 7: Two more Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are likely to come up at Muttukur and Chillakur in Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore district. The Surveypalli legislator, Mr Adala Prabhakar Reddy, has revealed this while addressing a meeting at Paturuvarikandriga in Muttukur mandal on Monday. He envisaged bright future unlike anywhere else for Surveypalli constituency in the coming four years. Mr Prabhakar Reddy reminded that the land costing Rs 2 lakh per acre before has gone up to Rs 2 crore in Muttukur area in the recent past because of Krishnapatnam port, thermal power projects and other projects. "Muttukur and Venkatachalam mandals used to be most backward areas in the past but the situation is totally different today. People of these areas benefited a lot because of unbelievable appreciation for their land holdings overnight," the legislator said. He said that all the unemployed are definite to get jobs because of industrial development in the area. Meanwhile, beneficiaries of Scheduled Caste Corporation gave up their 27-day-old protest before the tahsildar office at Muttukur on Monday following an assurance given by the revenue officials and people representatives. The beneficiaries were on a relay hunger strike demanding compensation for their lands which were allegedly acquired for port expansion works. They claim that the lands were allotted to them by SC Corporation. The Surveypalli legislator, Mr Adala Prabhakar Reddy and MLC, Mr Budati Radhaiah, convinced them to give up their strike and gave them lemon juice. Messrs Prabhakar Reddy and Radhaiah elicited information on their demands before the tahsildar, Mr Srinivasa Murthy, after assuring them that they would take up the matter with the district collector. Incidentally, the district collector expressed his displeasure against the protesters for locking the doors of the tahsildar office two days back. He questioned the rational behind locking the tahsildar office when some of the protesters met him on Monday at Nellore.
