Two new chemical studies have produced evidence that significant amounts of the organic compounds in a Martian meteorite found in Antartica are terrestrial contamination not possible traces of past life on Mars. Scientists conducting the research said the findings dealt a severe blow to the contention that the potato size meteorite holds important clues that possible microbial life existed on Mars years ago, when the planet had a warmer, more watery environment.
