Twenty scientists from all over the country will receive the first set of annual awards, for diverse inventions, to mark the Pokhran nuclear blast. Last year, Prime Minister Vajpayee had said May 11 would be henceforth marked as "Technology Day" and invention award would be instituted in the day's name to spur scientific inventions. The National Research Development Corporation has chosen seven inventions with the 20 scientists who worked on developing these to share a total of Rs 3.8 lakh prize money.
