2000 sapplings planted at Jadhavgadh

Over 2000 saplings of rare medicinal species were planted at a program mme at Fort Jadhavgadh on Saturday. More than 200 volunteers of Senior Citizens Club, Lokmanya Nagar, Sadhana Vidyalaya, Hadapsar, employees of Fort Jadhavgadh Hotel took part in the project . Vishram Abbhang , assitant director, Social Forestry, Meena Purnadare , president Senior Citizens Club, Lokmanya Nagar , Vittal Kamat and CMD Kamat Hotels were present on the occasion . The event was coordinated and managed by the Ayurved Vidnyan Manch , a Pune-based social organisation working in this area since 1994. Sapplings of Seeta Ashok, Raktachandan,Kanchan and Neem were planted in a scientific manner. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mandar Akkalkotkar, coordinator of Ayurved Vidnyan Manch said that the government departments are willing to help if people and organisations are ready to plant and conserve the trees. "As an organisation, the Ayurved Vidnyan Manch contributes to change/ create policies at forestry, agriculture, planning and environment. State and central. Seeta Ashok, Chandan, Guggul, Dashmool, Raktachandan and 25 more are our targetted trees, which have become rare. We are coordinating one million free saplings in our State in next three years. Two lakhs are Ashok. We coordinate with government departments to get easy funding, and also provide required technical info and saplings.' On the occasion, senior citizens sang songs related to nature which motivated all the volunteers , stated a press release.
