The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of 250 million dollars for infrastructure rehabilitation in Jammu and Kashmir. The project is the first major intervention in the troubled state by a multilateral aid agency in recent times. According to an ADB press release received here, the project will restore existing infrastructure facilities and services in two key infrastructure sectors - the urban and transport sectors. The urban sector component will cover water supply and drainage systems in Srinagar and Jammu, while the transport sector component will finance the rehabilitation of roads and bridges throughout the state.
