The fate of more than 25,000 thousand tribal families is in total dark as the Government of Maharashtra had not implemented its 33-year-old decision to give them ownership right over the forest land. The common refrain of this down-trodden Adivasis, mainly comprising Katkaris, Thakars and Dhangars, is 'we might die without our own piece of land'. On January 14, 1970 the then State Government headed by Vasantrao Naik, had announced the decision to transfer Dali and Eaksali land in the name of tribals cultivating theland.
