Another 3,000 sq. km in Punjab may come under forest by the year 2007, courtesy an aid from Japan, that has already funded such projects many times. Sources int e Forest Conservation Department revealed that recently a delegation from Japan had visited the state and had assured of monetary help in the field of forestry. At the moment, as per the National Forest Cover Policy, 33 per cent of the total land should be covered under forest. However, Punjab has just six per cent notified covered area under records.
