37 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured on support price

So far, 22 lakh 37 thousand 892 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured on support price from farmers in Madhya Pradesh and Rs 1266 core 32 lakh has been paid to them. Farmers are being given Rs one hundred bonus declared by the state government on the procurement of wheat at support price of Rs 1000 per quintal. Bulk of procurement is being made by state Civil Supplies Corporation. The quantity of procurement for this season is 47 fold more than the last year. During the entire Rabi season last year, only 47 thousand metric tonnes of wheat was purchased. Hoshangabad district tops in wheat procurement. So far, two lakh 48 thousand 43 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured and Rs 259 crore three lakh 40 thousand paid to farmers there. Record procurement has also been made in other districts. One lakh 65 thousand 635 tonnes of wheat has been procured in Harda, 91 thousand 85 metric tonnes in Ujjain, 80 thousand 157 metric tonnes in Raisen, 58 thousand 571 metric tonnes in Sehore, 57 thousand 161 metric tonnes in Indore, 47 thousand 60 metric tonnes in Dewas, 38 thousand 637 metric tonnes in Dhar, 38 thousand 922 metric tonnes in Khargone, 32 thousand 373 metric tonnes in Shajapur, 31 thousand 561 metric tonnes in Jabalpur, 25 thousand 603 metric tonnes in Ratlam district, 21 thousand 755 metric tonnes in Bhopal, 25 thousand 172 metric tonnes in Narsinghpur, 20 thousand 246 metric tonnes in Gwalior and17 thousand 594 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured in Khandwa district. Procurement is going on in other districts as well on a large scale. Madhya Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation is procuring wheat on support price since March 1 this year. The corporation has made arrangements of procurement of wheat at 925 procurement centres being through cooperative societies. Direct procurement from farmers is also being made at some selected Mandis. The Union government has declared Rs 1000 as support price for one quintal of wheat and Madhya Pradesh government has announced Rs 100 per quintal bonus. Thus farmers are being paid Rs 1100 per quintal. Apart from the corporation, Food Corporation of India and MARKFED are also procuring wheat. All round arrangements have been made by M.P. Civil Supplies Corporation for payments, gunny bags, transportation and storage. The procured wheat would be distributed through public distribution system.
