Seers and sants from the city of temples on Tuesday visited the Hirli dam built on river Kshipra where 4 lakh litre chemical- mixed water being released to the holy river by 350 industries of Dewas.
A delegation of Dharmacharya Parishad Kalyan Samiti, led by State general secretary Dr Avadheshdas Maharaj, visited the Hirli dam and surrounding areas where the Kshipra is being polluted with the confluence of chemical laded water released from industries of Dewas city.
Seers informed that five sewerages get mixed with the holy river at Havankhedi and Marethi village of Dewas district. The polluted water is gathered at Hirli dam where people of a dozen villages are suffering due to this polluted water. The pollution is even present in tubewells and open wells. Even crops will be affected with the use of this water for irrigation.
Dr Avadhesh Das further said that the ecological system of 15 km area got affected with the chemical laded water released to the Kshipra. At least 50 villages of Indore, Dewas and Ujjain districts are affected due to the pollution of water.
Even the State government seems to be ignoring this issue as it is not taking any measure to find a solution to this serious problem. State government invested Rs 432 crore for drifting Narmada water in Kshipra, but they do not have funds to clean the Kshipra.
With the arrival of Narmada water, the chemical laded water will affect hundreds of villages on its course. Seers have demanded the government to initiate action to root out this problem.
