40,000 un-electrified households to be provided solar home lights

Minister for Science and Technology, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Ruhullah today said that Government has taken up a mega project of providing solar home lights to 40,000 un-electrified households of remote and far-flung areas which include Doda, Reasi, Ramban and Kupwara.
The Minister was addressing an officers meeting of Science and Technology here today.
The Minister further said that by augmentation of solar home lights, the life style of the people living in remote areas would change as it would facilitate students community to study and people would feel relief.
Speaking about the performance of Scientific Council, the Minister said that the department is stepping up the research projects, seminars, Science Congress and debates to encourage promotion of science and research through Universities and other educational institutions.
The Minister issued directions for development of future technologies, solar wind and micro-hydel projects in each district of the State and also directed for organizing publicity awareness camps. He said that proposals for solar townships and water heating system are being sent to Government of India for accord of sanction.
Stressing for speeding up the process of augmentation of various facilities to the people of the State through Science and Technology Department, Syed Ruhullah directed the officers concerned to take their job seriously, maintain discipline and work with zeal and dedication so that the purpose of launching renewable energy programme by Central and State Government is fulfilled in letter and spirit.
