A low-intensity earthquake jolted the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar today afternoon. Its epicentre was near Kishtwar. The Indian Meteorological Department said the 4.4-magnitude quake hit the area at 1:36 pm, which brought fear back in the area. There were no reports of loss of life or property. Since May 1 this year, Doda and Kishtwar districts have been witnessing moderate-intensity quakes. Most of the buildings and residential houses in the area have developed cracks and more than 1,000 structures have been completely damaged. The fresh tremor in the area brought people out of their houses and they spent a few hours in the open.
