45 children suffering from malnutrition in Aurangabad

As many as 45 child patients of malnourishment have been detected in the city under the survey of Integrated Child Development Project (ICDP). According to the sources, the machinery of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) woke up from a deep slumber and started working to search malnourished patients and bring the situation under control. The meeting of integrated child development project department, which comes under the domain of district collector, was held recently. The meeting was informed that a total of 45 malnourished children of grade-III were detected in the city areas while one child living in Vaijipur was found in grade-IV which is considered to be serious stage. The sources further said the AMC was engaged in treating the child. The medical health officer Dr Shrikrishna Devganonkar told this reporter that the situation has arisen because Anganwadis, which were attached to AMC health centres earlier, were detached. He claimed that last year the number of malnourished children in the city was higher than the current figure.It is learnt that two more mal children Amit Bhaigavhane and Monica Wahul of grade-IV were detected in Krantinagar area two days ago, however, the department has no entry of these children.
