The Chandigarh Administration will underwrite 50 per cent of the cost of the Metro Rail Project (Common Mobility Plan) and Detailed Project Report (DPR) while the proportion for Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh would be 20, 20 and 10 per cent respectively. The division of the entire cost was prepared during a joint meeting chaired by UT Adviser Pradip Mehra, Haryana Chief Secretary Dharam Vir, Punjab Chief Secretary Ramesh Inder Singh and Himachal Pradesh Principal Secretary (Transport) Ashok Thakur, held last week. Giving information in this regard on Wednesday, an official spokesman said that it was decided in the meeting that the Common Mobility Plan (CMP) and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Metro Project would be given to a single company selected through a transparent bidding process from the list provided by the Ministry of Urban Development. The CMP would be prepared first. Haryana Chief Secretary Dharam Vir also provided a copy of the Memorandum of Agreement for an Integrated Mobility Plan for the Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex and suggested that the Committee of Secretaries, Urban Transport of the three States and UT must study the scope of services outlined in the memorandum before finalising the scope of services for the project. Urban Transport Secretary would act as Secretariat for calling the bids. The Committee would evaluate the same and give recommendations for acceptance to the coordination committee.
