500 birds, animals rescued: Raids Conducted By NGO In Jama Masjid Area, No Arrests

New Delhi: In one of the biggest widlife raids in the Jama Masjid area, NGO People For Animals (PFA) rescued over 500 birds and animals early on Sunday. The rescued animals include endangered white pigeons and several rabbits. All the rescued animals have been taken to Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre for treatment and a case under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was lodged at the Jama Masjid police station. However, no arrests have been made. Animal rights activist and PFA chairperson Maneka Gandhi, while calling for a ban on the sale of live animals in pet shops, said:
