AJMER: Altogether 586 villages in Ajmer district have been identified as a water-crisis zone where the drinking water problem has made life miserable for the villagers.
In 193 villages, the PHED has started supplying water and gave assurance to cover the rest in the coming days.
As mercury shoots up in the region, the problem of drinking water started.
"These villages are identified by the committee of sub divisional officers and we are trying to provide water in two to three days to every village" said R K Vishnoi, superintending engineer of the department.
District collector Manju Rajpal on Monday called a meeting on this issue directing the officials to provide water supply to every village of the district.
"If panchayat samitis are not able to arrange the water tankers then it is the duty of the water supply department to make the arrangement," Rajpal told the officials.
She said the department is responsible to supply water to the city limits so that complaints of irregular water supply should not reach the administration.
She also instructed the water supply department to identify the villages and started supplying the water by tankers.
Meanwhile, the department roll out a master plan to supply water during the annual urs commencing next month.
"We are making arrangements for the Jumme ki namaz so that we could provide water supply twice in the dargah region," an official said.
