With its depleted strength, the Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF) is fighting a losing battle against encroachers, poachers ad other antisocial who have ravaged the reserved forests and national parks in the State. Despite repeated requests made by the Assam Government to raise at least two more battalions of the AFPF, the Centre is not paying any heed to the matter.
