Over 750 trees near the octroi post on the Vashi-Mankhurd highway were hacked night, according to an FIR filed with the Trombay police by the Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra and Bharat Petroleum. The trees were cut down ostensibly to increase the visibility of the hoardings at the spot.
