As many as 78 dairy societies have been formed in Tikamgarh district under Bundelkhand special package. The societies have been constituted by Gwalior Dairy Federation, affiliated to MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation. These societies are collecting 4,300 litres of milk daily at present. Milk chilling plants have also been established in Tikamgarh and Jatara with a view to give a fillip to dairy activities. Most of these societies are collecting more than 100 litres of milk daily. So far, the milk producers of the district have sold milk worth `55 lakh. The milk producers are also growing green fodder to increase production. Mini-kits of fodder seeds have been made available to farmers by the dairy federation. Under Bundelkhand Special Package, subsidy schemes are also being run for purchasing milch cattle of hybrid species, which will lead to rise in milk production.
