80% drop in bush and forest fires, says dept

The number of bush and forest fires in the Malaysia has reduced drastically since the Government adopted stern measures to combat the problem. "In the last two months, the department responded to an average of 37 cases. This is almost a 80% reduction in the number of cases detected between January and April," Fire and Rescue Department assistant-director general Yusof Muhammad said in an interview yesterday.
