The Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya in Assam saw about 80,000 devotees thronging the sacred shrine premises. But lack of drinking water, proper sanitation and irregular power supply are giving a harried time to the devotees camping around the shrine. The incessant rains have only worsened matters for the devotees. The Ambubachi Mela Committee has blamed the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) of not making adequate arrangements to handle the large flow of devotees. Some devotees also complained that no proper medical facility was available at the site.
