The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Friday released an additional $800,000 in relief funds for recent flood victims in Sunsari and Saptari districts. According to a press statement issued by USAID/Nepal today, the amount is being released through the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA). "The funds will assist the Government of Nepal in meeting the ongoing critical needs of the flood-affected. USAID/Nepal has authorized immediate additional release of $800,000, which will be granted to the International Federation of the Red Cross/Nepal Red Cross Society, International Organization for Migration, and Save the Children," said the statement. This relief money will provide emergency shelter materials for the displaced living in camps and for the host families who are sheltering the displaced. Earlier, USAID/Nepal had responded with immediate provision of emergency non-food relief items and shelter materials worth $121,100.
