- 95 countries ratify pact on hazardous chemicals trade

After two years of negotiations, 95 countries have agreed on a legally binding convention on international trade in hazardous chemicals and pesticides. The UN Environment Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organisation jointly announced that these countries have honoured the commitment made at the 1972 Rio Earth Summit to negotiate a convention to curb trade in certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides.
