The Pink City is likely to get drinking water from the Bisalpur dam on Banas river in Tonk district by 2007. The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, has directed the Water Resources Department to complete the project within the next four years. The financial sanctions for the Bisalpur-Jaipur project will be obtained by the end of the current financial year. Though the project was sanctioned by the previous Congress regime in October 1999, it could not be implemented due to financial constraints. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 1,019 crores.
