Even as the concentration of chloroflurocarbons (CFCs), the major cause of the ozone hole in Antarctica, is declining due to international regulations, scientists have identified another culprit for a similar loss of ozone over the Arctic region.A team of German researchers from Max Planck Institute have found that 35 per cent of ozone loss over the North Pole during 1994-95 was due to removal of active nitrogen from the atmosphere.
