The Social Welfare Society, Fazilka, which had initiated welfare schemes for different sections of society more than a decade back is turning into a movement for the uplift of the poor. The society has the credit of organising first three-day TB control camp in December 1995 in which a team of eminent chest specialists from Punjab examined 170o patients. Out of these 150 TB cases were treated in nine months at the society's expense with help of Nathu Ram Jawala Bai Ahuja Trust of Fazilka. About Rs 5 lakh was spent for this purpose.
