The hapless victims of garbage dumping in Kachabeswarar Nagar here have themselves found a solution to the problem. The residents have put up granite pillars to bar vehicles from entering the sprawling open ground on Thyarkulam Street, belonging to a Siva temple in the town. The open ground had been unofficially converted into a dumping yard by the civic body, which started dumping garbage and domestic waste collected from the houses in Madam Street, Mandapam Street and other streets in Pillayarpalayam area there for the last 18 months.
