Prashant Rupera | TNN Vadodara: Anand Agricultural University (AAU) is all set to enter into an agreement with Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals (GSFC) Limited through which the latter will sell liquid bio-fertiliser indigenously developed by the varsity. AAU scientists had developed the bio-fertiliser, which it has been selling to local farmers for the past four years on a no-profit-no-loss basis. After the agreement whereby it is proposed that AAU will sell the culture developed by its scientists for Rs 10 lakh, GSFC will market the liquid fertiliser that AAU sells under Anubhav' brand. "It is for the first time that the bio-fertilisers' culture developed by us will be sold to GSFC which, in turn, will go for mass production. Once the agreement is signed, the strain of bacteria will be given to GSFC," AAU neya told TOI. "Last year, we had sold 5,000 litres of the bio-fertiliser from our own premises," said professor and head of AAU's microbiology department Dr RV Vyas. "For drip irrigation, farmers can't use solid fertilisers and so there is an increasing demand for liquid fertilisers. At the same time, bio-fertilisers are expected to address 30 to 40% demand of nitrogenous and phosphorous fertilisers," AAU has been marketing its liquid fertiliser as the one useful in drip irrigation, green house and net houses
