Going by the past record, the child labour data may hover around the data made available by the previous census reports. State wise break-up shows that Andhra Pradesh leads in child labour followed by Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. It is totally unrealistic to believe the correctness of this data in a situation of growing population, unemployment and declining job opportunities and to conclude that the number of child labour in the country will show a decline...editorial
