Kerala's Leader of Opposition V S Achuthanandan demanded the immediate takeover of 20 private sandalwood factories that were allegedly buying raw material from illegal loggers. The veteran Marxist leader alleged there was a nexus between some forest officials and the loggers, who were sneaking sandalwood out of government-owned plantations.
