The Union Ministry of Environment & Forests has drawn up an action plan to reverse the decline in forest cover of the country. Among other things it includes intensified afforestation activities in villages, launch of major awareness campaigns, inclusion of environment as a subject in school curricula and rehabilitation of forest and non-forest wastelands.Chairing a high-level expert committee here today, the Union Minister for Environment & Forests, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, assured all help for organising a flow of funds for taking up afforestation activities.
