Action should be taken to conserve historical sites of Dalada Maligawa - Prime Minister

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse said action should be taken to conserve all sites of historical importance of the Sri Dalada Maligawa complex. On his recent visit to Kandy, he had observed the deficiencies and delays in the conservation activities and advised officials and directed Central Provincial Governor Monty Gopallawa and Central Provincial Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake to investigate into these deficiencies and delays. Legal procedures have been already completed to include historical sites namely Malwatte and Asgiriya Maha Viharas, Kandy Kataragama Maha Devale, Adahana Maluwa, Pulleyar Devala, Getambe Water-cutting site of Mahaveli river and Rama Vihara in the Sri Dalada Maligawa complex.
